Lord of Mysteries May Manor Guide: Separate the Astronomer's Adds or the Raid Melts

A Chinese May Manor player has explained the Astronomer raid boss. Here is the English strategy for Meteor, Radiation, add control and the three-add damage phase.

Lord of Mysteries has a raid boss that punishes one of the oldest MMO habits: stack every enemy in one place and hit everything at once.

That approach can wreck a May Manor group during its third encounter. The 星象仪者, or Astronomer, summons adds that create 辐射, Radiation, when they remain close to the boss. The result is heavy group damage at the exact moment players are trying to stay together for healing.

A new Chinese guide from TapTap user XW夜丨月下 explains the working strategy. The raid needs one tank on the Astronomer, a second tank on the adds, and a clear switch to add damage after the off-tank has collected three. The author posted the guide on August 31, after a separate tank asked how to read the boss’s Meteor timing.

This is a player-developed method, not an official encounter sheet. It gives English players a useful plan for the Chinese client and the Chinese words that identify each call.

The fight in 30 seconds

The Astronomer strategy can be reduced to six raid calls:

  1. Keep the boss tank and add tank in separate positions.
  2. Free any player affected by 束缚, Bind.
  3. Watch for 流星, Meteor. Yellow stones and red ground lines warn that an add is about to spawn.
  4. Find the yellow landing circle. If it appears under the boss, stop attacking and spread at once.
  5. The add tank pulls each new enemy away from the Astronomer. Do not let the two groups touch.
  6. When the add tank has three adds, every damage dealer and all but one healer switch to them. The boss tank stays away with the Astronomer.

The encounter depends on clean spacing more than perfect timing. A raid can survive modest damage if both tanks keep their targets apart. A stronger group can still collapse if an add sits under the boss and activates Radiation.

Phase one is the recovery check

The first phase is the quiet part of the encounter. XW夜丨月下 tells groups to avoid unnecessary deaths and rescue teammates when they are bound.

The guide also says the healer can work from directly under the boss. The full raid still needs space to see ground warnings and reach a bound teammate without dragging an attack through the group.

Use phase one to confirm the raid’s roles. One tank must own the Astronomer for the entire second phase. The other needs room to intercept new adds and move them to a separate side of the arena. If both tanks assume the other player will collect the spawn, the first Meteor can end the attempt.

The useful Chinese call here is 队友被束缚了就救, which means “rescue a teammate when they are bound.” English players do not need to translate a full warning during combat. Seeing 束缚 is enough to know that another player needs help.

Meteor is the add-spawn warning

The Chinese guide describes a clear visual sequence for 流星, Meteor. Yellow stones appear on the ground. Red lines follow. A yellow circle then marks the place where an add will spawn.

The separate TapTap question shows why players were confused. One tank recorded Meteor at roughly 40 or 45 second intervals but could not find a fixed rule. A reply advised watching the skill’s wind-up instead of relying on a timer.

That is the safer raid instruction. Treat the ground effect as the trigger. A timer can help a tank prepare. The visible yellow stones, red lines and final yellow circle remain the reliable signal.

The worst spawn is one that appears at the Astronomer’s feet. The guide’s instruction is blunt: stop chasing damage and spread immediately. The add tank then needs to establish control and pull the spawn out before the group resumes its normal rotation.

This is also where the Chinese phrase 不要贪伤害, “do not be greedy for damage,” matters. The game may not display that sentence as an official prompt, but it is the correct player call. One cancelled attack is cheaper than a Radiation wipe.

Radiation makes separation the main mechanic

The guide says an add that remains with the boss produces 辐射, Radiation, and causes heavy damage. The exact safe distance is not given, so the off-tank should use a clear visual gap rather than testing the edge of the effect during a live attempt.

The boss tank has an equally important job. When the raid switches to adds, that tank must stay in position. Moving the Astronomer into the add group defeats the purpose of the switch and can turn a clean damage phase into another Radiation burst.

Healers should split with the tanks. One healer stays with the boss tank. The remaining healing support can move to the add group, where most of the raid will be standing. This keeps the Astronomer isolated without leaving either tank unsupported.

The formation should look simple:

  • Boss tank and one healer on the Astronomer.
  • Add tank on the opposite side with one to three adds.
  • Damage dealers near the target called by the raid leader.
  • Remaining healers close enough to support the active group without pulling the two packs together.

If the raid is failing while everyone appears alive, check the distance between the Astronomer and the adds before asking for more healing.

Three adds is the damage switch

XW夜丨月下 recommends collecting three adds before the raid changes target. At that point, everyone except the boss tank and one healer moves over and uses focused damage on the add pack.

The author reports that each killed add removes four percent of the boss’s health. That figure comes from the player guide, so groups should treat it as a reported encounter value and watch the current health bar for confirmation. Even without that health loss, clearing three adds removes the immediate Radiation risk and resets space for the next Meteor cycle.

The guide says a group at about 秒伤1.1左右 can clear with this method. The phrase means roughly “around 1.1 damage per second” in the author’s shorthand, but it does not identify a universal unit or a full raid measurement. Do not turn it into a fixed gear requirement. Server progression, character upgrades and the way the player records damage can all change the number.

The practical check is simpler. If the raid can kill the three-add pack before the next spawn cycle overwhelms the off-tank, its damage is sufficient for the plan. If it cannot, improve target focus before treating raw account power as the only problem.

A short raid-leader macro can cover the full encounter: 流星,看黄圈。小怪拉开,三个集火。主T别过来,留一个奶。 In English: “Meteor, watch the yellow circle. Pull the adds away and focus them at three. Main tank, stay back. Leave one healer.”

Discipline wins the clean clear

May Manor’s third boss asks the raid to make the correct target look less attractive. The Astronomer remains available while the off-tank collects adds. Damage dealers have to stop hitting it when the group calls the switch. The boss tank has to stay away from the majority of the team. Healers have to divide their attention instead of forming one safe cluster.

That tension is what makes the encounter work. The solution is easy to explain and easy to break.

English players should learn three labels before entering: 流星 for Meteor, 辐射 for Radiation and 集火小怪 for focus the adds. Watch the ground instead of forcing a 40-second timer. Keep the boss and adds apart. At three adds, switch together.
