May Manor Is Testing the Lord of Mysteries Mobile Client as Much as Its Players

Lord of Mysteries players have reached the 12-player May Manor raid, but some report long freezes and crashes during its first boss. Here is what the Chinese reports show and what mobile players can do.

Lord of Mysteries players have reached the new 12-player May Manor raid. The mobile client is killing some attempts before the first boss can. A Chinese player report shows the frame rate dropping to near zero during the Mutated Hound fight, while other players in the same TapTap discussion describe crashes at the same encounter.

The report, posted by TapTap user 析木 on August 27, describes eight or nine seconds of a frozen screen while the phone’s graphics processor runs at full use. The player says repeated freezes led to several crashes and forced them to log back in while the other 11 members continued the fight. The group killed the boss with one second left before enrage.

That is one player’s account, not a measurement of every phone. Replies show a mixed picture. One Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 user said the raid ran without a problem. Several Xiaomi and Redmi users said the Mutated Hound caused freezes or crashes, and the original poster identified a Xiaomi 14 Pro. Another reply said the same device could handle the game’s large battlefield events but struggled in this boss fight.

May Manor has a repeatable performance complaint around its opening encounter for some mobile players. The available discussion does not prove that every Xiaomi phone is affected, and it does not establish a single hardware cause.

The phone overlay records several steep frame-rate drops during the Mutated Hound encounter. The raid UI is visible behind it. Screenshot posted by TapTap user 析木.

What the screenshot shows

The captured screen places the phone’s game tools over a live May Manor fight. The performance graph lists an average of 41 frames per second, with several drops to the bottom of the chart. The right side of the screen shows 捕兽夹, or Beast Trap, and the raid objective names 异化猎犬, the Mutated Hound.

The image ties the performance graph to the correct encounter. The map label reads 普通·五月庄园, or Normal: May Manor, and the boss objective remains visible behind the phone controls.

The selected phone profile is 性能模式, Performance Mode. This does not tell us every graphics option the player used, but it rules out the simple assumption that the phone was deliberately running a battery-saving profile.

Why May Manor puts more pressure on the client

May Manor asks one client to draw a boss, environmental effects, damage indicators and up to 11 other player characters at once. Each player can add skills, companions and status effects to the same scene. The opening Mutated Hound fight also uses a dark courtyard with layered effects, which can make a sudden frame drop harder to read than it would be in an empty field.

The raid has a strict enrage timer. A player who loses eight seconds cannot dodge, use a defensive skill or complete an encounter task. A crash removes that player until the client loads the character and reconnects. The other 11 players must then cover the missing damage or support while the timer continues.

A slow menu affects one player. A May Manor freeze can consume the time of an entire raid, and a player may not know whether the next attempt will fail in the same place.

What mobile players should try before entering

There is no confirmed fix in the available reports. These steps reduce avoidable load and make a useful support report if the problem returns:

  1. Restart the client before joining the 12-player group. This clears a long session from memory without changing account data.
  2. Close screen recorders, floating chat windows and other game overlays. The pictured phone panel includes several extra tools that can share memory with the game.
  3. Lower effects and the number of displayed players before the first pull. Keep boss effects visible if the menu separates boss effects from other players’ effects.
  4. Use a stable Wi-Fi connection. A network problem is not the same as a graphics freeze, but a clean connection makes the cause easier to identify.
  5. Record the device model, graphics preset, frame rate and the boss phase. If the client crashes, note whether it happened when 捕兽夹 appeared or when the Mutated Hound used a large area attack.
  6. Rejoin through the raid prompt as soon as the client returns. Do not start another activity before checking whether the May Manor group is still active.

Do not install an unofficial performance package or modified client. The China launch already has active account enforcement, and a third-party client creates a larger risk than a missed raid clear.

The Chinese labels English players need

May Manor is difficult to troubleshoot if every prompt has to be translated during combat. These labels cover the visible encounter and the phone tools in the report:

Chinese labelEnglish meaningUse in the raid
普通·五月庄园Normal: May ManorRaid and difficulty label
异化猎犬Mutated HoundFirst boss named in the report
捕兽夹Beast TrapEncounter action or mechanic shown on screen
即将狂暴Enrage imminentTimer warning before the boss becomes more dangerous
求救Ask for helpPrompt shown after the character is downed
变强Get strongerOpens character improvement options
确定ConfirmAccepts the current prompt
退出ExitLeaves the current activity
游戏工具Game toolsPhone game-control panel in the screenshot
均衡模式Balanced ModePhone performance profile
性能模式Performance ModeHigher-performance phone profile selected in the report
性能配置Performance settingsOpens device-level game settings
内存清理Clear memoryPhone tool for closing background memory use
消息屏蔽Block notificationsStops notification banners during combat

The label 即将狂暴 is especially important. 狂暴 means enrage, not anger in a story scene. When that timer ends, the group should expect the boss to become much harder or the attempt to fail.

What players should report to support

A useful performance report needs the phone model, operating-system version, free storage, client version and graphics preset. State that the problem happened in 五月庄园 against 异化猎犬. Add the time and server so support can match the crash to server logs.

If the game freezes without closing, take a screenshot of any device performance graph. The image from 析木 is useful because it shows the raid, the boss label and the frame-rate fall in one capture. A screen recording can help, but only if recording does not make the problem worse.

Players should also separate three symptoms:

  • 卡顿, stutter or low frame rate
  • 卡屏, a frozen screen
  • 闪退, a crash back to the phone home screen

Those words describe different failures. Reporting the correct one gives the developer a better chance of finding the fault.

May Manor is a good raid trapped inside a risky first pull

The close clear in the TapTap report points to what May Manor can do well. Twelve players stayed in the fight while one member repeatedly reconnected, then beat the enrage timer by one second. That is the kind of shared story an MMO raid should produce.

Mobile players should treat the close clear as a warning. Test the first boss before promising a full evening to a fixed group. If the Mutated Hound causes the client to freeze, save the evidence and change the settings before another pull. Do not assume that a phone which handles cities or large battlefields will handle this encounter in the same way.

The developer now needs to determine why some devices appear to fail at this specific boss. Until an official notice gives a cause or fix, May Manor groups should treat mobile stability as part of their preparation alongside damage, healing and encounter knowledge.
